The Steyning Strikers Under 7s football team is relatively new and is part of the Steyning Town Community Football Club that, from next season, will be playing matches and training twice a week.

Simon Harding, under 7s manager said: “This is absolutely brilliant, thank you. The money will go on new equipment for next season including new goals which we need when we start training on grass pitches.”

The donation comes from the Police Property Act Fund (PPAF), made up of monies received by the police from property confiscated by order of the court and then sold.

Chief Inspector Dave Shepard said: “This fund enables Sussex Police to support local charities and community groups. This team trains and develops football skills for over twenty children each week and we are happy to help it.”
