Sussex Police prove their fitness

BOBBIES on the beat in Sussex are among the fittest in England and Wales it has been revealed.

Some 2,093 Sussex Police officers took the recommended fitness test and 98.3 per cent passed.

This compares to a 97 per cent average pass rate across the country.

The test involves a 15 minute shuttle run designed to push officers’ limits.

Adrian Rutherford, the force’s head of human resources, said: “We are pleased with our officers’ excellent pass rate, which is above the national average. We have introduced fitness testing in a supportive manner with champions on divisions, support on line, practice runs and guidance. It shows our officers’ commitment to achieve the required fitness levels in an effort to serve the community as best we can.”
