TWO long-serving partners in an Uckfield legal firm retired last month.
Partners, staff and clients of Swindells LLP said farewell to Roy Thompson and Jim Sweeney.
Roy Thompson joined the firm on March 1, 1965 as a trainee straight from school.
He was finally appointed senior partner and after 46 years proudly states he has only ever attended one job interview.
Roy plans to help in the community, attend his local Rotary Club, find time to travel, volunteer to work at the 2012 Olympics, garden and continue to lend his expertise to his former colleauges at at Swindells.
Jim Sweeney has served the firm for 33 years. He has an agricultural degree from Wye College which proved invaluable for farming and landowning clients.
He also became a tax expert heading up the firm’s tax department and recently achieved a Masters Degree in counselling, a new career he intends to develop.
Swindells themselves now have three extra partners including corporate accountant Melanie Richardson, quality tax expert Robin Stevenson and accountant and auditor Robert Willison.
