Tackle shop offers help to 73A Centre

KEEN anglers from the 73A Centre were lent a helping hand by a Bexhill tackle shop on Tuesday.

The charity, which provides care and support for adults with mental health issues, has a popular fishing club which allows members to partake in the peaceful hobby.

They often call in to Steve Hanks' Hook, Line and Sinker shop in Sackville Road for tackle and advice.

When Steve discovered the group kept damaging their precious rods in transit to fishing venues he decided to act and donated a set of protective cases.

The new cases will allow club members to go fishing without fear of breaking their equipment.

The fishing club is supported by Wylands International Angling Centre, in Catsfield, and Friends of the 73A Centre.

Anglers from the group explained to the Observer how it helps them to relax and relieves stress.

Steve added: "The group have been in and bought rods and bits and pieces, then I heard they (the rods) kept getting broken, so I wanted to give them these bags to make sure they kept hold of their rods for a while longer.

"I like to encourage all people to go fishing, so it is a pleasure to help them keep doing it."
