A DOG charity is holding a fun dog show in Seaford on Saturday August 25 to raise funds for its important work.
Seaford Dog Rescue will stage the event on the Martello Fields, just off the Esplanade, from 10am until 4pm.
Before the summer the group could not rehome the dogs as quickly as they were coming in, which it blamed partly on the recession.
Sue Phillips, from Seaford Dog Rescue, said: “It will be a great day with so much for all to do, both four legged and two legged members of the family , so come along and have some fun.”
The day has lots of attractions including a fun dog show which people can register for on the day, Fantastic 4 Flyball team display, pony rides, quad bikes and an exotic animal extravaganza.
Dog show categories include: fancy dress, puppy and prettiest bitch, as well as most handsome dog, veteran and best rescue.
Others include best pedigree, best heinz 57, judges’ favourite, junior handler and finally best in show.
Visitors can look forward to security dog displays, have a go agility for dogs and a fun fair.
There also will be trade stalls, a beer tent and food.
All proceeds go to Seaford Dog Rescue and last year it raised around £1,500 but is hoping to beat that this year as the event is bigger and better than ever.
Sue explained she had seen an increase in the number of dogs coming in, particularly Staffordshire Bull Terriers, due to irresponsible breeding, but also husky and husky crosses.
She said: “Huskies are a specialist breed and I don’t think people realise that when they see a cute little fluff ball when a pup.”
