The beach at Tide Mills is extremely steep and unstable as a result of the Environment Agency’s shingle realignment scheme, said the Friends group.
During the November meeting 17 volunteers collected 20 sacks of rubbish, plus many bulkier items, much of which had come in from the sea.
The Friends of Tide Mills informed the South Downs National Park Authority that the finger post at the beach end of the Old Village Road had fallen over.
The next meeting will be on Sunday December 21 meeting at 10am at the waymarker adjacent to the beach at the road leading from the level crossing.
Meetings last two hours but all are welcome no matter how much time can be spared. Group chairman Jim Skinner said: “Please do join us, we really are seeing major progress now in the care of this wonderful place.”
