Talented folk in Hailsham - in bloom awards

THE TALENTS of hard-working residents and businesses have been rewarded at a prize ceremony for the Hailsham in Bloom Awards.

The Mayor, Cllr Jeff Bentley-Astor, co-presented the awards with his Deputy Mayor, Cllr Richard Grocock, who succeeded Cllr Bentley-Astor as the chairman of the in bloom committee last June.

The awards were presented at the offices of Hailsham Town Council on September 21.

A number of annual competitions are held by the in bloom committee with six categories.

Marks are awarded for colour combination, landscape and floral design, quality of plants and evidence of recycling and a tidy appearance all round.

There is also a Hailsham Heritage Award category, which recognises work of architecture or landscape design that best protect and promote the heritage of the town.
