Tanbridge student handed dream musical experience

Thanks to the schools Ambassadors Programme, which is run in conjunction with local marketing agency, PMW Communications,

Lawrence Schofield will become a VIP guest at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London to show off his musical talent to some of the country’s finest musicians.

After participating in the Four Part Choir rehearsal, Lawrence, whose dream is to become a professional musician, will get to observe conducting classes and coaching sessions before being treated to a seat in the auditorium to watch the lunchtime concert.

He will also be involved in a big band rehearsal and composition masterclass with Professor Robert Saxton from Oxford University.

Jules White, headteacher at Tanbridge, said: “This is an incredible opportunity for Lawrence to see first-hand the dedication and talent that is required to become a professional musician.

“Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance is an outstanding performing arts establishment that hosts and trains some of the finest musicians and dancers in the country, including some past Tanbridge students, so we are delighted that we are able to offer Lawrence this experience as part of our Ambassadors Programme. I am sure he is going to enjoy an experience he will never forget.”

He continued: “We initially launched the scheme back in 2008 to encourage our students to start thinking about their future careers at a very early stage. We wanted to ensure that they genuinely understand what it takes to succeed in their dream career and appreciate what subjects they need to study and why. This direct experience is invaluable and is a great example of the exceptional opportunities we are able to offer students at the school.”

Marion Friend, director of Junior Trinity, said: “Lawrence is already an accomplished musician, particularly bearing in mind his age. During his day with us he will be surrounded by other gifted young people who are also considering a career in music. I hope that we motivate him even further to pursue his ambitions.
