Taxi companies go head to head in charity golf match in Willingdon

Willingdon Golf Club held a charity golf match between 720 Taxis and Sussex Cars to raise cash for The Tuesday O’Hara Fund and The Rocking Horse Children’s Charity.

Nearly 40 taxi drivers took part.

Organisers Gary Young from, 720 Taxis, and Don McPhee, from Sussex Cars, thanked Willingdon for their hospitality and both praised the condition of the course.

The trophy was sponsored by Eastbourne Borough Council and won by 720 Taxis. The prizes were sponsored by Club Class Insurance of Seaside.

Gary Young and Don McPhee said, “We would like to say a special thank you to popular Willingdon Club Captain, John Bigsby, for making the presentation and for his kind words.” It was agreed that the £200 which had been donated by both companies, plus the money that had been raised on the day, would be divided between 720 Taxis’ choice of charity, The Tuesday O’Hara Fund, and Sussex Cars’ choice, The Rocking Horse Children’s Charity.

This will become an annual event.
