Taxi driver robbed at knifepoint

A taxi driver was robbed at knifepoint in a terrifying late-night attack.

Two men got into his car in Kenilworth Road, St Leonards, at about midnight on Thursday. They pulled out kitchen knives and threatened him, before punching him in the face.

The men stole 250 cash and ran off towards Pevensey Road. The driver was not seriously hurt, but was understandably shaken by the attack.

Both men are said to be white, about 23 years old, slim and slim.

One is described as about five feet nine inches tall, and was wearing a black jacket, black tracksuit bottoms and wearing a black baseball cap.

The second man was shorter - about five feet six inches - with a large spotty chin. He was also dressed in black with a black cap.

Detective Sergeant Jason Tuck of Hastings Police said: "There have been no other recent reports of robberies of taxi drivers locally, but we are actively investigating and ask anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has any information to call us on 0845 6070999."
