Tea party helpsanimals in needat local centre

Sophia Khan, from the Blue Cross, said: “It went really well. The money raised will go to help the homeless cats and dogs at the centre.

Visitors were able to enjoy a cup of tea and a slice of cake for a small donation.

Many of those attending the event were families and individuals who had given homes to unwanted pets from the centre.

Jonathan Ramsden, volunteer coordinator at Blue Cross in Northiam, said: “We were really grateful to everyone who turned out in the rain to support us. Luckily our enclosed dog play barn offered some much needed shelter and thankfully the weather did brighten up later on.

“We saw faces both new and familiar and had a chance to catch up with some of our previously rehomed doggy friends.

“We had an array of homemade cakes and treats made by volunteers and staff along with some homemade dog biscuits which went down well. All in all it was a good day and the turn out was very good considering the weather”

Maria Steel, Blue Cross rehoming centre in Northiam, said: “Events like our tea party are a really important way for us to raise money so we can continue caring for all the homeless cats and dogs that come into the centre. And what easier way to help needy pets than by enjoying a cup of tea and some delicious cake?

Last year, Blue Cross found new homes for over 8,000 pets and treated over 30,000 sick animals, but there are still many more pets in need.
