Teachers get African dance fever

Pupils at Western Road School in Lewes took part in an African arts week rounded off by a spirited dance performance by their teachers.

The week featured a special assembly presented by African sculpture expert Monika Wengraf-Hewitt, drawing workshops, fabric printing, mask, shield and bead making, clay pot making and firing, paper mache animal sculptures and sunprint photography.

There was also some fabulous African dance and drumming with South African musician, Risenga Makondo.

The event was largely funded by proceeds from art fair organized by Western Road School parents at Southover Grange in November.
