Team of 23 take to the skies for cancer charity

A team of charity fundraisers are taking on a skydiving challenge on behalf of a young man with cancer.

Lucy Price, 16, from West Chiltington, took on the task of organising the jump to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

She told the County Times that she was motivated by her friend Claire’s older brother Jamie Drey-Brown and his battle with cancer.

“He is 24 and has fought cancer for three years, whilst getting a first at Oxford for classics,” said Lucy.

“After Christmas the Drey-Browns got the news about the cancer being terminal.”

Since getting that news, Jamie has declined to undergo any more cancer treatment.

Lucy’s Justgiving page says: “After hearing the news that my best friend’s brother’s cancer is terminal, I decided that something had to be done to put this horrific illness back in its place.

“Myself and many other event riders propose to face our fears and take part in a charity skydive in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust, in honour of Jamie’s battle with cancer.

“I would massively appreciate any donation, and urge everyone to dig deep into their pockets as this is such a brilliant charity that helps millions every day.”

Most of the skydivers are friends of Lucy from horse riding, others are school friends, or even teachers - her English teacher is among those taking part.

They will tackle the 10,000ft jump on February 27, at GoSkydive in Salisbury.

So far, group members have raised £14,000 between them.
