Teenage motorcyclist injured in collision near Herons Ghyll

A MOTORCYCLST from Uckfield was seriously injured in a collision with a van on the A26 near Herons Ghyll on Thursday August 16.

At around 3.10pm a white Vauxhall Vivaro van travelling north was involved in a collision with a blue Suzuki motorcyclist travelling south towards Herons Gyhll.

The motorcyclist, a 19-year-old Uckfield man, suffered serious injuries in the collision and was airlifted to Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton where he remains this morning (Friday).

His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The driver of the van, a 61-year-old man from Hastings, was not injured in the collision.

PC Nigel Dunn of Sussex Police’s Road Policing Unit said: “The road was closed until around 8.30pm to allow officers to fully investigate the circumstances surrounding this collision.

“I would like to thank motorists for their patience and understanding during this time.”
