Teenage motorcyclist seriously hurt after crash in East Grinstead

A teenage motorcyclist was airlifted to hospital where he remains in a serious condition after a crash in East Grinstead on Saturday (April 2).

The 17-year-old boy from East Grinstead is in a ‘serious but stable condition’ at St George’s Hospital in Tooting, a spokesperson for Sussex Police said.

The collision between the motorbike and a silver Ford Focus happened on the A22 London Road at its junction with Buckhurst Way shortly before 4pm.

The boy, riding a blue Debri Senda 125cc, sustained serious injuries and was flown to hospital.

The car driver - a 44-year-old woman, also from East Grinstead - was unhurt.

The road was closed for three hours while the incident was dealt with and the circumstances investigated.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
