A teenage passenger in a van was hit by a brick thrown through a window while parked in St Leonards.

The terrifying incident happened around 5pm on Monday (March 16).

The 17-year-old victim was sitting in the passenger seat of the grey Astra van which was parked in Battle Road when she was struck by the house brick. She turned away to shield herself when the window of the van smashed so the brick hit her on the back. The man who threw the brick through the driver’s window then ran off. He was black, about 6’ 2” and had curly hair. He was wearing a grey tracksuit and a beeny hat. The teenager suffered cuts and bruises. Sergeant Paul Elrick said: “This was a frightening incident for the victim and neither her nor her boyfriend can think of any reason why she would have been targeted.”
