Teenager stopped breathing

A TEENAGE student born with a growth defect died after suffering breathing problems, an inquest heard.

Amber Parmar, 16, stopped breathing at her home in The Millers, Yapton on March 26 this year.

Paramedics rushed to her aid but their attempts were in vain, the inquest at Chichester County Court heard.

Coroner's officer Chris Clinch said Amber was born with delayed global development, and was prescribed a growth hormone at the age of two. When she died her body had developed to that of a child half her age '“ eight.

Her condition meant during her short life she developed a curved spine and a dislocated hip, and relied on a wheelchair.

On March 21 this year, she began suffering breathing problems. She visited her doctor on March 25 and was prescribed antibiotics.

But a day later she stopped breathing. Coroner for West Sussex Penelope Schofield recorded a verdict of natural causes.
