Teenagers attacked by car thieves in Chichester

Police are appealing for help tracing a man who assaulted two teenagers in the Parklands area of Chichester before crashing a stolen car.

The eventful night started at 11pm on Friday, September 18, when a red Vauxhall Corsa was stolen from Westgate, in Chichester.

From there the thieves met up with another red Corsa and a dark-coloured Peugeot hatchback and drove along Sherborne Road, towards the Parklands estate, at around midnight.

They stopped near a young teenager who was picking up his bicycle on the pavement.

A man, believed to be 18 with short, blond spiky hair, got out of the car and threw a bottle at the youngster as he ran away.

The second assault, by the same man, was on a young teenage girl who had approached him asking for a cigarette, believing she knew him.

The three cars then drove towards Oliver Whitby Road, where the stolen red Corsa attempted a handbrake turn and crashed into a parked car outside the Inn on the Green pub, formerly known as The Mitre.

Those in the car then got into the dark Peugeot and drove off with the second red Corsa towards Funtington.

Police are appealing for anyone with information about the men and the cars' registration numbers to call 0845 6070 999.
