Teenagers sought after man attacked in street

ASSAILANTS led by a teenager wearing a Russian-style hat are being sought by police investigating an assault in the street.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the attack just after 10.30pm on Sunday, February 1 outside Traffers Public House, Egerton Road.

A 62-year-old man had a snowball was forced into his face. He was then punched, causing him to fall on his face.

Police said that as a result the victim received extensive injuries, including black eyes, a possible broken nose and cheek bone, cauliflower ear and facial bruising.

The main offender is described as a white male, 6ft 1ins, of slight build and in his late teens. He was wearing a Russian-style woolly hat with ear flaps and what was believed to be a dark jacket. He was with two other youths.

DC Stewart said: "We are requesting any witnesses of the assault to contact Sussex Police on 0845 60 70 999 quoting serial 1734 of February 1 or to contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111".
