Tell us more about proposals for Rose Green site

Anxious residents have been bombarding one of their neighbours with questions after plans were revealed to develop a Rose Green estate.

Cllr John Bass was one of the first people to move on to the Willowhale Farm estate around Pryors Lane.

He was recently co-opted on to Aldwick Parish Council to make him the natural person to turn to among his neighbours.

They were alerted to the possible developments by a letter delivered late last week by housing association Places for People (PFP).

It states the registered social landlord will be holding a consultation next Wednesday about proposals to 'redevelop infill sites'.

The event will take place between 3pm and 8pm at Aldwick Parish Council's offices in Pryors Lane.

John Cudd, a development consultant, says in the letter: "The display of the scheme is a great opportunity for us to present and explain the proposals in detail to illustrate the positive aspects of the project.

"We hope to assure you and your neighbours, as local residents, we have addressed the environmental, design and spatial elements of the proposals."

Cllr Bass, who has lived on the estate for 37 years, said he had ten phone calls about the issue within a couple of hours last Thursday night.

"People want to know what is happening," he said. "But, until I have met PFP, I don't know any more than they do."

A particular worry was the potential parking problems caused by any new housing because 80 per cent of the current properties lacked garages.

The estate consists mainly of two-storey houses and bungalows well set out around ample green spaces.
