FOOTNOTES: It being the start of spring and the added impetus of having to increase the household shopping bill due to Chaplin now being with me, I decided to overhaul our finances. One glaring amount stood out was the amount we were paying for Sky TV. So deciding on a change and a cheaper supplier, I contacted BT and agreed to take up their offer which was considerable cheaper than what I was currently paying. However, this involved the installation of an aerial, carried out by a support group of BT and this was where I ran into trouble. An appointment was made and Chaplin and I waited patiently for the guy to turn up. After a morning had gone by I decided to phone them. I then discovered I had to run a barrage of questions telling me to press the number that I thought applicable. Having, after hopefully pressing all the right numbers, I was put through to a humanoid who promised they would investigate and phone back. Two hours later, I phoned again, battling my way through the afore-mentioned numbers. Again, profuse apologies and promises to phone back. Two hours later with darkness closing in, I rang again, navigating my way through those numbers. Again extensive and grovelling apologies, I was told it was too late and too dark for the man to erect the aerial, and another date was arranged. I am now sitting here with Chaplin on his usual place on my desk, awaiting his arrival. Episode two next week. Enjoy your week and go safely.
