CTLA: (Community Transport) charity have been awarded a grant from the Cabinet Office Local Sustainability Fund for organisations working in the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector. The funds will enable CTLA to implement organisational change and access professional advice, including establishing strong volunteering relationships with local businesses, and improve a wide range of skills and support. Derek Barnett, General Manager of CTLA said; '˜We are delighted to have been successful in our bid to the LSF. This will enable us to do considerably more work to ensure the services we offer are relevant and sustainable in the long term. I believe our strong partnerships and community links to local authorities and community groups was one of the reasons we were selected and with these funds we can develop these further for the benefit of the communities we serve.' The grants have been awarded to charities that demonstrate a high impact in and vital support to communities, especially to vulnerable or disadvantaged residents. FOOTNOTES: I have Radio 4 on all the time at home. A sort of audio wallpaper that I can dip into or out of whilst I am working. Most of it goes over my head and unless a local name is mentioned, such as a town or village, I don’t pay a great deal of attention. However, lately I have got increasingly irritated by two things. One is the eternal pontificating about the merits or otherwise of staying in or leaving the EU. Every point being discussed to infinity, with endless repetition until I begin to lose the will to live. The other is a painfully slow development of a plot in the Archers. Now I always stop to listen to the Archers and I must make a confession here, two of the current cast are friends, which always added a grain of interest. The plot concerns the mental abuse by her husband of one of the characters, Helen, a perfectly worthy cause to publicise, which I applaud. However, it has gone on and on and on until my patience with the writers is beginning to snap. Script writing is supposed to condense situations into weeks, not represent the actual time line. They are not doing the cause of the unfortunate souls who suffer this in real life any favours. Meanwhile in the real world I have just spent a happy hour picking up litter from the roads around the area where I live. Most of the things I collect are what you would expect, sweet wrappers, crisp packets etc. However, I picked up a carefully wrapped industrial firework the other day. Unused and quite massive, it had been slung over a garden wall. This was followed by a large collection of bags of dog poo. What induces someone to take a doggy bag out with them, pick up the dog mess, but then deposit the bag either in the street on the verge, or over my garden wall? Weird or what as a young friend of mine would say.

Have a good week and go safely.
