Temporary traffic lights in Newick to be removed as water main project finishes early

Temporary traffic lights on the A272 Goldbridge Road in Newick will be removed tomorrow, South East Water has said.

The traffic lights have been in place while South East Water installs new pipeline to overcome problems with an old and unreliable water main.

Construction started at the end of July and will be completed ahead of schedule, South East Water said.

Jeremy Dufour, project manager, said: “We know roadworks can be frustrating for drivers and passengers and we apologise for any inconvenience the work may have caused.

“However, the new pipeline will secure fresh drinking water supplies to homes and businesses in the area for decades to come.”
