The Greenfields site, which is made up of Carey House, Spurgeon Close and Taylor Walk was officially opened in 1991 shortly after the first residents moved in to the bungalows in 1990. It is now a thriving community.

Scheme manager Debbie Iveson, who has been there for just over three years said: “We still have two of the original tenants Ken Ashby and Wilma Gilson still live there. We have a tenants committee who organize bingo, outings, events, entertainment.

“Terry has become the resident chef; he cooks a full breakfast every other Friday for the residents who want it.

“Christmas is quite special, all the residents come to sherry and mince pies and we have West Green primary school visit to show us their nativity play which always proves popular.

“It’s quite a busy scheme but I do try and ensure that we are welcoming to new residents and visitors alike.”
