Tesco table push was nopicnic, but raised £365

PUSHING a picnic-laden table up Galley Hill and along Bexhill seafront while wearing roller skates and fighting a stiff breeze was the challenge successfully undertaken by a group of female staff from the Tesco store at Ravenside on Sunday.

The girls managed to keep plates and cups in place as they progressed along their chosen route, and thanks to generous donations from local people exceeded their expectations to raise £365 for children’s cancer charity, CLIC Sargent.

This was added to proceeds from other fund-raising efforts during the week, making a grand total of £685 raised by staff at the store, to which Tesco will add 20 per cent.

Personnel manager Lisa Lindsay, who saw off the team at the start, said: “Well done to everyone who helped with the preparation and came in on their day off to take part.”
