Tesco will lose interest

TESCO bosses will get bored and give up before they have a chance to build a supermarket in Hailsham, says town councillor Dudley Rose.

Plans for a Tesco store have been on the cards for years, but Cllr Rose believes that soon the company will 'call it a day'.

'They've been sniffing around in Hailsham for seven years or more,' he said last week. 'But these things take so long to go through all the official procedures.

'Eventually I think they'll get fed up and pull out.'

Cllr Rose was speaking at the annual Hellingly Parish Meeting, in answer to a question from a member of the public.

The proposed site for the Tesco development is where Whitehouse School currently stands. If Tesco ever received the go-ahead, the school would have to be moved at the expense of the developer.
