The heat is no longer on for farrier Peter

THE end of an era came to Slindon on Thursday morning when the last hot shoeing took place at the village forge.

Farrier Peter Fenton, who has had the forge for almost 40 years, shod Delphi, a horse owned by rider Lizzie Reynolds, and one of only two equines that have been to him for hot shoeing in the past year.

"The majority of horse owners today opt to have cold shoeing," he said.
