The most overlooked cats in UK

With their wide eyes and beautiful furry features, you would have thought fabulous felines Sid and Muffett would have been snapped up from the cat rescue centre.

But the pair have been given the dubious accolade of one of the top 15 Most Overlooked Rescue Cats in the UK.

Sid and Muffett have been residing in the The Celia Hammond Animal Trust Greenacres Sanctuary in Brede for more than three years - and the hunt is on to find the siblings purr-fect forever homes.

The search for their new homes is being aided by Cat Chat, an established online rescue and rehoming resource which provides an outlet for over-stretched rescue shelters to promote their cats for homing.

Cat Chat is marking its 15th anniversary by highlighting fifteen of the UK’s hardest to home cats, aiming to find their ‘forever homes’.

Kelly Hardwick, spokesperson for Greenacres Sanctuary said: “Sid and Muffett have been overlooked for three years now, and are desperate to find them homes.  

“Initially we had hoped that Sid and Muffett could be homed together, but in recent months their relationship has become strained, perhaps due to being at the shelter so long.

“We now feel they may be happier homed separately but would look at both options depending on the home offered.

“We suspect they may have been overlooked simply because of their coat colour, as many people do not want black and white cats no matter how lovely their personalities are.

“We are convinced Sid and Muffett would make super companions once settled in new homes.

“Muffett is sometimes a bit of a madam if she doesn’t get her own way!

“However really she is a very sweet cat who is just frustrated by the cattery environment.

“Sid has a cheeky personality and likes to know what’s going on at all times.

“Sometimes if he’s not the centre of attention a paw comes out to bring the focus back to him.”

Sid and Muffett are neutered male and female cats, who would prefer adult only homes with access to a garden.
