The rotary club with a difference

It was in 1987 that Sussex Police set up a viability trial for a police helicopter. Sixteen years on the Sussex Police Air Operations Unit is now a familiar sight in the Sussex skies.

The unit has recently seen some changes: chief pilot Ian Broan has appointed three new pilots- Colin Mitchell ( ex Royal Navy), Jonathan Jeffes ( ex commercial helicopter pilot), both latge of the Metropolitan Police and Paddy Connelly ( ex Army Air Corps).
