Thieves steal sick Chichester girl’s special tiara

Mum Cassie Looker said a wheelchair in the boot of her car which was left must have indicated to the raiders that the items belonged to someone who was unwell.

Amelia-Jayne, who has just celebrated her sixth birthday, has a brain tumour and Cassie said since being diagnosed she has worn her tiara everywhere she went.

The break-in happened outside their home in Parham Close in Chichester on Wednesday night and Cassie said: “I was taking the kids to school and got in the car and everything in the glove box was everywhere.

“At first I asked the children if they’d been looking for something and then I realised lots of things were missing.

“Everything was taken apart from some letters from the hospital and Amelia-Jayne’s wheelchair in the boot.”

On her daughter’s missing tiara she said: “She was given it as a birthday present from Princes Anna from Frozen.

“It’s the only thing that makes her feel like the true princess she is since losing her hair during chemo, even though she’s never fazed and just says ‘it’ll grow back’”.

“It’s super special to her, she’s been through the most awful, tough time and although it was just a normal tiara it really made her smile.”

Cassie’s handbag, perfume, the children’s Disney CDs were also taken, along with a camera containing family photos.

“It had all our pictures on it, all the special days out we’ve arranged for Amelia-Jayne,” said Cassie. “I don’t mind about losing my handbag or the camera, they can be replaced, but you can’t replace those memories.”

Cassie added: “My daughter is so brave all through her chemo. We call her tumour her bubble.

“It took three months to diagnose, by which time the tumour had grown.”

She does hope something positive can come from this however. Since posting it on Facebook, lots of people have offered to buy tiaras for her little one. Cassie said: “We are hoping to collect them so we can take them into hospitals to make other little girls smile.”
