Third time lucky as Battle council seeks a new clerk - again

At a Battle Town Council meeting on Tuesday evening, councillors agreed to advertise for a new town clerk.

The vacancy will be advertised via the Sussex Association of Local Councils from the end of the month.

It will be the third time the council has had to advertise for a new clerk since last year.

Long-serving clerk Peter Mills retired in July 2013 after 13 years in the role.

Julia Cuppini took over the position shortly afterwards, but was forced to leave for personal reasons after a period of ill health.

Anna Evett joined the council in April.

Following Anna’s departure, the council is looking into restructuring.

The council voted to reduce the number of committees from five to four, in favour of more working groups and sub committees to carry out work more efficiently.
