Thousands of homes without power in Durrington

AN underground cable fault left thousands of homes in Durrington without any electricity this morning (Wednesday, February 4).

EDF Energy Networks said a fault on an underground electricity cable caused the power cut to 2,200 homes in Ivydore Avenue area of Durrington at around 10.30am.

A spokesman added: "EDF Energy Networks engineers restored power to all but 293 customers by 11.33am.

"They continue to work as quickly and as safely as possible to restore the final supplies.

"We appreciate how difficult it can be to lose power, especially at this time of year. We apologise for the inconvenience caused."
