Thousands paid in Jubilee grants

ROTHER Council has handed out more than £6,000 in community funding for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The district council’s grants panel has powers to award grants of up to £500.

Those due to receive that amount include: Rother Seniors Forum; the Bexhill branch of the East Sussex Disability Association; Brightling Village Trust; Burwash Parish Council; Etchingham Parochial Church Council and Tilling Green Residents’ Association at Rye.

Other grants so far approved are: Fairlight Parish Council, £499; Ashburnham and Penhurst Village Hall Appeal Fund, £400; Highwoods Preservation Society, Bexhill, £400; Homecall, £350; Darvel Down Residents’ Association, £300; Pett and District Horticultural Society, £300; Bexhill Neighbourhood Gardens, £300; Thalia House, Bexhill, £300; Sedlescombe Friendship Club, £180.

These grants are for 15 of 26 grant applications considered in rounds one and two.

Funds are still available and areas that have not yet submitted a bid for Diamond Jubilee grants are being encouraged to do so.
