THREE people were arrested during a police drugs swoop at the Trek II nightclub in Seaford.

Sniffer dogs were used to check customers entering the club on Saturday night.

However, just three people were detained after small quantities of cannabis and cocaine were discovered. A 2in-long spike was also confiscated.

On Friday officers also patrolled Roderick Avenue, Peacehaven, Chatsworth Park and Kirby Drive, Telscombe Cliffs, Newhaven town centre and Broad Street, Seaford, to target anti-social behaviour and under age drinking.

Lewes District Commander Chief Inspector Jim Taylor said the aim of the blitz was to disrupt and identify drug users.

He added: 'It also gave us the opportunity to focus our activities in trouble areas which the public have told us about.

'Although the numbers of offenders were not huge, I do not over estimate the positive effect this will have had on the law abiding members of our communities or those who may wish to be offenders in the future.

'Importantly, our activity shows the community that we are positively against any form of drugs crime.'
