Three people hurt in A21 crash

Three people were taken to hospital following an accident involving three vehicles on the A21 yesterday (Sunday, September 27).

Emergency services were called the stretch of road in Sedlescombe, near the junction with Paygate Road, at around 3pm.

Firefighters had to cut a man free from the wreckage of one of the vehicles.

The 40-year-old Hailsham man was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton with injuries to his head and abdomen.

An 81-year-old Hastings man, travelling in a different vehicle, was taken to the Conquest Hospital suffering from knee pain.

An elderly woman, believed to be travelling in the same car, suffered chest and neck pain and was also taken to the Conquest for treatment.

The air ambulance was scrambled to the scene, but all patients were taken to hospital via land ambulance.

The road was closed for recovery work and reopened at about 4.25pm.

No arrests have been made.
