Three Polegate women start project to help homeless

Three Polegate business women have set up an appeal for hats, gloves, scarves and socks for rough sleepers in Eastbourne.

Annabel Cottingham, Chloe Eason and Jayne Stevenson are concerned about the welfare of doorway sleepers in the cold weather and have launched an appeal to gather warm clothing.

A spokeswoman for the group said: “The ladies realise there is other help available for homeless people, and appreciate not everyone seeks help, their aim is purely to prevent illness and maybe death in the cold weather.”

Items can be taken in to the Polegate Cafe, High Street, between 9am and 3pm except Sundays. The donations will be sorted and given out to those in need.
