Tide Is High

THE prediction Littlehampton would face some of its highest tides for years this week, did not come true.

The Environment Agency reckoned the tides in Littlehampton on Monday and Tuesday could be the highest they had been for four years, reaching 6.5 metres. Other areas were also put on alert.

However, according to Littlehampton Harbour Master, Colin Hitchcock, the tides reached only 6.2 metres on Monday and 6.3 metres on Tuesday.

Mr Hitchcock said: "This was because of high pressure and the direction of the wind. We were on alert and had patrols out, but there were no problems."
