Tilgate Park fire was arson, firefighters say

Arsonists were responsible for a blaze which destroyed trees and undergrowth at Tilgate Park, fire crews say.

Firefighters were called to Tilgate Drive at 8.13pm on Saturday evening.

“Approximately ten square metres of undergrowth and trees were destroyed by fire,” said a West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service representative.

“It was deliberate ignition.”

The crew used a hose reel to put out the fire, and reported the incident dealt with at 8.29pm.
