Time running out for plan comments

RESIDENTS across the district have just days left to have their say on how their communities should be shaped.

Arun District Council’s six-week consultation on its draft local plan closes at 5pm on Monday (September 10).

Ricky Bower, Arun’s cabinet member for planning, said: “The local plan will affect everyone who lives in Arun whether it details explicit proposals for your immediate area or not.

“I would urge everyone living or working or visiting the district to have their say, even if all they say is you support the plan.”

Billed as one of the most important documents to be produced by the authority, the 350-plus page plan aims to be a driving force to boost the local economy and create jobs.

It also sets out the council’s approach to delivering affordable housing, renewable energy, transport and the protection of the district’s natural and historic assets.

There are a number of ways residents can give their views.

Comments can be made via Arun’s online consultation portal http://arun.objective.co.uk/portal and in writing on the local plan comments form.

This is the first phase of consultation. A revised plan will be issued for public consultation in December.
