Timings for the Queen’s visit to Newhaven, Lewes, Southease and Falmer

It’s the big day for East Sussex as Her Majesty The Queen, accompanied by His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, is about to visit her first port of call today (Thursday October 31).

The Royal Couple will start their visit at West Quay Fisheries, Newhaven Fish Market, at 10.40am.

They will meet staff and tour the facilities meeting local fishermen and customers.

The Royal Party will proceed by car to YHA South Downs, Southease, with an expected arrival time of 11.10am.

They will tour the newly refurbished facilities viewing the new ‘Glamping pods.’

They will meet staff and Duke of Edinburgh Award students staying at the centre before unveiling a plaque to mark the opening of the new facility.

They will continue by car to Harvey’s Brewery, Lewes, the oldest independent brewery in Sussex.

Expected to arrive at 11.55am, they will visit the factory and see the bottling plant in action before taking lunch as guests of Harvey’s.

In the afternoon the Royal Party will visit The Keep at about 2.10pm, the new local archive centre near Falmer opening to the public towards the end of 2013.

The Keep will eventually house over six miles of archives and resources dating back 900 years.

The Queen will meet staff volunteer groups before unveiling a plaque to mark her visit.
