Tim's new toy

GORING boy Tim Hayes is set to have a wheely good time, thanks to a generous donation from a software company.

Mum Nicky wrote to Bond International Software, asking for help in puchasing a specially modified go-kart for Tim, who has cerebral palsy.

The board of directors decided to fund the purchase outright and the go-kart was handed over to Tim at Bond's UK headquarters at Courtlands in Goring.

The vehicle will help Tim become more mobile and enable him to experience the freedom that other children take for granted.

Tim, nine, attends the Willows Unit at West Park School, where he can access the mainstream education system, thanks to the high level of support he receives.

His mum, Nicky, said: "Tim is able to walk with the aid of a rollator, but with considerable effort, so walking is more a daily exercise rather than a useful way of getting about.

"It is important for Tim to get as much exercise as possible and this is best achieved through fun activities, which he can enjoy."

Bond's European chief executive, Tim Richards, said: "We were impressed by Tim's determination to lead as full and active a life as possible and delighted that we were able to help in this instance."
