Tip blaze burns for long time
DENSE black smoke which hung over Pebsham tip turned to grey as firefighters from both Bexhill and Hastings began what was to be a long operation to douse tonnes of burning waste.
Flocks of disturbed seagulls soared above the scene as the firefighters worked to prevent the blaze from spreading.
A Bexhill crew worked so long yesterday evening at the scene that a relief crew had to be sent.
