A total of 38 members of the TLA Steelband completed a six-day tour through one of the country’s stunning cities, Barcelona, with their efforts even being broadcast on local television on Saturday (July 26).

Jane Ascott, steelband secretary, said they had been preparing and rehearsing for their international summer tour for more than nine months.

She said: “The students were a credit to the school and the town of Littlehampton should be proud of them.

“They have already been invited to return to perform in the city.”

Jane wished to thank The Littlehampton Academy’s head of music, Lee Nelson, who organised the tour, as well as all those who supported the band – including the dedicated drivers who covered more than 2,000 miles across Europe to deliver the group’s steel pans.

As well as performing five times across the city, the students also got to enjoy the sights on offer, from the Sagrada Familia and the beach to cooling down at the Ilia Fantasia water park. For a video of the band’s show, see www.btv.cat/btvnoticies
