Top accolade for magazine

The Observer Magazine has won a top accolade by being voted one of the best supplements in the country.

At the Weekly Newspaper Awards, held in Leeds last Thursday, the Observer Magazine clinched a bronze award in the Supplement of the Year category.

The Chichester Observer also impressed judges by making the shortlist of six top weekly newspapers in the south east.

The newspaper has been involved in a number of community projects throughout the year, culminating in organising a march in October to save St Richard's Hospital from being downgraded.

The awards, held annually, are run by the Newspaper Society and prizes are given for quality of material and presentation.

'I am really delighted for those talented people who contribute to and care about the Observer Magazine, and for our readers who are so loyal and supportive," said magazine editor Sue Gilson, pictured.

Observer group editor Colin Channon said: 'I've always believed the Observer Magazine to be an outstanding product and I congratulate Sue for winning such a revered national award.

'The fact the Chichester Observer was shortlisted shows we are going from strength to strength.' C072760-1
