Top club hosts soccer tournament at Rye College

YOUNG footballers in the Rye area were able to benefit from coaching from Brighton and Hove Albion when the club hosted a special six a side tournament for local primary schools at Rye College.

Albion has launched a new community roadshow and decided to use Rye as the pilot.

The club’s Young Seagulls team, including club mascot ‘Gully’, led other fun activities for children on the day.

The roadshow concluded with a free fans’ forum event at The George Hotel in Rye where the club’s chief executive, Paul Barber, was joined by first-team coach and former captain Charlie Oatway and a host of other former players for a panel discussion and question and answer session.

Rye College head Ann Cockerham said: “We are grateful to Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club and to Albion in the Community for providing this fabulous roadshow for young people in Rye and their families.

“They are doing so much good work across Sussex and making a real difference to young people’s lives. We are proud to be working in partnership with them and look forward to developing this partnership further in the year’s ahead.”
