Top marks for anti-theft scheme

THE benefits of marking personal property to help thwart thieves were brought home to people who visited St Peter’s Community Centre in Old Town, Bexhill, last week.

On Tuesday, May 8, as part of Sussex Police’s Operation Marker, police community support officers Roy Collins and Adam Cox were on hand to talk to people about security and mark items of property which had been brought along.

PCSO Collins (pictured), just returned to duty after a period of illness, said being able to identify property was a huge bonus to police investigating burglaries and thefts, as well as making it easier to return recovered goods to their rightful owners.

Leaflets containing further advice and information were handed out, and similar events are planned elsewhere in the area. Anyone wanting help with crime prevention should telephone police on 101 or call into the police station in Terminus Road, Bexhill, during opening hours.
