Top police officer on child porn charges

A SENIOR police officer who lives in Bexhill has been charged with downloading child pornography.

Inspector Christopher Wratten, 48, faces 27 offences of copying indecent images of children on to his computer.

He was charged on Tuesday and has been released on bail to appear before Crawley Magistrates next Friday.

Mr Wratten, who was based at Hastings Police Station, is a few months away from retirement.

He was suspended on July 26 when officers searched his home and seized computer equipment.

Sussex Police started investigating after getting information from the FBI.
