Top tourism honour for 1066 businesses following glowing customer reviews

HONOURS have been flooding in to 1066 Country businesses for their top performances in the competitive field of tourism and hospitality.

The coveted TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence has been awarded to a number of attractions, restaurants and hotels by the renowned market leader in customer feedback and reviews.

The Certificate of Excellence, which honours hospitality excellence, is given only to establishments that consistently achieve outstanding traveller reviews on the TripAdvisor website, and is extended to qualifying businesses worldwide.

Only the top-performing 10 per cent of businesses listed on TripAdvisor receive this prestigious award.

To qualify for a Certificate of Excellence, businesses must maintain an overall rating of four or higher, out of a possible five, on TripAdvisor reviews, and must have been listed on the site for at least 12 months.

Additional criteria include the volume of reviews received within the last 12 months.

Among the 1066 Country attractions to receive the accolade are Bodiam Castle, Hastings Adventure Golf, Rye Harbour Nature Reserve, and Rye Heritage Centre.

David Hartley, of Hastings Adventure Golf, said: “We were quite chuffed as in my experience these ‘ratings’ sites are often a sounding board for the ‘negatives.

“Our award is displayed in our window.”

Pauline Oakley of Lilac Tree Lodge in Battle was delighted to receive the award for the second year running:

She said: “What is so nice about it is that it shows we maintain high standards at all times and our 5* markings for Value, Cleanliness, Service, Rooms, Location and Sleep Quality prove that point.

“We are most grateful to all our lovely guests for taking the time and trouble to go on independently and leave us these wonderful reviews.”

Thanking his staff, Peter Cosstick of the Rye Heritage Centre said: “I would also like this opportunity to thank my team for the brilliant service they provide.”
