Tory posters vandalised in Battle

Vandals have been targeting Conservative posters in Battle, according to a resident.

The woman says she has seen at least three examples of vandalised posters, two of them in North Trade Road, where black spray paint was used to obliterate Greg Barker's name.

But Mr Barker's campaign team have said the attacks were 'part of the joys of electioneering'.

Mr Barker's agent, Gillian Wheeler, said: "Sadly this sort of thing with posters goes on most of the time, not just here but around the country.

"I know the Liberals had most of their posters taken down in the Battle area at last years elections.

"I have also had problems in all corners of this constituency.

"Actually all you can do is just accept it as part of the joys of electioneering!

"Always best to try and put your posters behind fairly impenetrable hedges!"

She added the Party was not blaming 'the other side' and has said the vandalism was more likely to be down to 'a bit of amusement for local youth.'
