Town revving up for Bike Festival

Up to 100 Harley Davidson motorcyles will form a cavalcade on Sunday July 26 when the annual Bexhill MotoFest takes place.

The family friendly festival, which runs from 9am - 5pm, offers the chance to get up close and personal with some stunning dream machines and features Mini Moto racing, a full line-up of live music and a hog-roast.

It also incorporates a Charity Road Safety Festival in support of Kent Sussex Surrey Air Ambulance.

The cavalcade of Harleys sets off from the Custom Café (formerly Bungalow Café) on the A259 at 10am, travelling through Little Common to Cooden Beach, along Cooden Drive, Wickham Avenue and Western Road into Devonshire Road where they will form up, at 10.45am to cross Marina to the De La Warr Pavilion Terrace to launch the live music on the De La Warr stage.

Mini Moto Racing, MiniGP and Mini Sidecar demonstrations will be taking place on the De La Warr Pavilion car park from 9am - 4pm. Over 16’s with full bike kit can also have a go.

Live music runs from 10.30am - 3.15pm and features a number of live bands playing everything from classic rock to Cajun.

Acts include Euphoria, who play classic rock with a classical twist with cello and choir, and the Cajun Dawgs who play rockin’ swamp blues. Kick will be headlining for a second year playing rock and pop covers.

The fun continues from 3pm - 9pm with an after-fest hog-roast and live music chill-out party at the Coast Restaurant under the Sackville apartments on Bexhill sea front.

There is a unique exhibition of ‘Motorcycle as Art’ on the De La Warr Terrace from 9am - 5pm. It features drawings and sculptures of Belgian motorcycle artist Roland Groteclaes and the stunning motorcycle portraiture of local photographic artist Michelle Szpak as well as some classic custom motorcycles.

A Motorycle Market takes place on De La Warr Terrace lawns with over 40 traders and exhibitors.

Road safety groups will be offering advice and information on the West Lawn of Bexhill seafront. They include a display from Sussex Safer Roads Partnership; Bikesafe offers and advice; biker down demonstrations; advanced motorcycle course offers and a charity competition to win a Mini.
